Adaptive Planning Implementation.
From the statement of work and system selection process, we can sort out the hype and reality of Adaptive Planning. Sometimes, Adaptive Planning isn’t the best use case for your financial budgeting and planning process. We’ll be candid about that. We can be truly independent because we don’t have anything to gain from reseller commission.

Adaptive Planning Optimization & Assessments.
We know the ecosystem very well and where to tap into great experienced talent. Some projects you may need a system integrator given the timing and number of staffing required. There are some good system integrators, where combined with working with an experienced independent consultant, can ensure the back office / implementation requirements are met. On top of that, ensuring the project is being delivered using best practices and, in a manor, to optimize the planning and reporting function. Two of the biggest issues we see is skimping on project design and PMO functions with a low-ball system integrator only to get a project which typically overruns on budget and a solution which is at best just replicating your spreadsheet. Also, don’t be fooled in thinking you need to pay 5X more for a project implementation with a big 4 consultancy. Much of their cost is high partner overhead however many times inexperienced consultants.
Adaptive Planning Advisory & Project Management.
After you’ve decided on your software tool and Statement of Work, this is arguably one of the most important phases. Get this part right and your entire project will be much easier and less surprises along the way. This phase entails extensive review of your current and future state function. Review of business processes and objectives for the new FP&A function. Aligning with an experienced consultant advisor, ensures your design considerations are being vetted with best practices. Here we balance project management by someone who possesses a deep knowledge of software. We look at data sets to analyze model type and design, data inflows and outflows, report and integrations, user security/ access rules configuration and metadata/custom dimension architecture.

Adaptive Planning Change Management.
Here you’ve selected your EPM tool and your implementation partner already. However, you quickly realize your team already has their day job and you either don’t have the time or right resources to support your end of the implementation. This is where we can come in and work with your Finance and IT team to help perform some of the typical client-side implementation tasks such as: financial general ledger data cleansing, Workday report building, application design and development blueprinting requirements.
Adaptive Planning Training & Extended Hypercare
Whether your two weeks post your Adaptive Planning deployment, and you don’t feel confident how to maintain or grow the tenant you were delivered. Most likely because your deployment didn’t embed the right resources to understand the application and optimize your process. And the poor user manual and short administrator training from your Adaptive consultant (who’s already moved on to their next project) isn’t cutting it. We’ll get you ready to stand up Adaptive Planning and to sustain it on your own.

Having been an end user of Workday Adaptive Planning and Big 4/ Boutique management consultant, Brian is able to effectively bridge the gap and partner with IT, HR, Finance and Accounting teams. This leads typically to an easier and shorter adoption period and shorter implementation, ensuring client partners get the transformation promised. Having the ability to bridge the gap between functional and technical and experienced FP&A background, allows him to be a trusted advisor. More importantly, his clients have found him an energetic, empathetic, and “easy to work with” person which helps build team consensus during which sometimes can be a stressful time (recognizing client partners have their day jobs too!).
As the Co- founder of Adaptive Planning Consultants, he offers award winning boutique-style Professional Services support for Workday Adaptive Planning, a leading cloud-based Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solution.
Brian has built out Workforce and Financial Planning models thru COGS, Revenue, Opex, Capital, Grants, Supplemental Models and much more. A snippet of some most recent work includes:
- Workday Adaptive Solution Architect and Project Manager for a top 10 research university. (Phase 2 WD)
- Model review & rebuild Adaptive Planning for bank. Reconfigured Opex model, dimensions and integrations, resulting in ability to complete an accurate forecast (4 weeks)
- Solution Evaluation and strategic planning processes evaluation for fortune 100 insurance company.
- Client-side support and implementation advisory pre-IPO pharmaceutical company
Brian brings over 10 years’ experience as a Workday Adaptive Planning Consultant and has worked on many complex financial modeling, reporting and integrations use cases. He is also deeply familiar with project management and client-side advisory (supporting better technical and functional outcomes and empowering client partners to sustain their new EPM solution on their own).
He is enthusiastic about Workday Adaptive Planning having worked with it long before it integrated into the Workday Platform. He takes his background as an end user in every design consideration.
His goal is to support finance teams in achieving best practices in financial planning and analysis, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strategic alignment within their organizations. He’s been in your seat before, so every training and design consideration is to help minimize the change management of learning a new system or process.
Having worked at large system integrators such as Deloitte and Accenture along with smaller boutique partners, he has seen the gaps these firms provide resulting in many times “lift and shift” of legacy process instead of considering the possibilities of what a new EPM tool could provide.
He founded Adaptive Planning Consultants to be a refreshing change to how most system implementers provide their services.
